The stand out tie in this weekend’s Hellenic League Division One East sees second placed AFC Aldermaston travel to fourth placed Wallingford Town.

Despite being further down the table Wally have only lost once in the league this season and boast one of the division’s top scorers in Charlie Silkstone, who has 14 goals in 15 games in all competitions.

The Atom Men have had some mixed results of late, but they have managed to score in every game they have played this season, and have their own in form striker in Josh Blackwood, who has 9 goals in 11 games.

To add another level of interest, it will be the first time that Wallingford first team coach Kieran Jennings will come up against his former club after leaving Aldermaston at the end of August.

Can Holyport do the biz?

Holyport return to league action for the first time in four weeks with a home game against bottom of the table Chinnor. Chinnor, nicknamed the Biz, have not picked up a point in the league since early September, whereas Port are undefeated in their last six games, winning five, and scoring 26 goals in that time. Holyport will be hoping their fine run of form continues on Saturday.

Wokingham & Emmbrook have a home fixture against Abingdon Town. Despite being one of the early season favourites for promotion, Abingdon have been enduring a tough time recently as changes in staff, both on and off the field, had meant they were unable to raise a team for three weeks in a row.

Fortunately, the disruption seems to be being resolved as the Abbotts played their first league game in over a month last weekend, drawing 3-3 with Wallingford Town. The Sumas will be hoping for a repeat performance from when the two sides met in the Floodlit Cup earlier on in the season as they ran out 6-3 winners on that occasion.

Nice to meet you

In the Combined Counties Division One Eversley & California host Epsom & Ewell in what is the first ever competitive meeting between the sides. Epsom currently sit 6th in the league table and are on a run good form having gone for seven games without defeat.

The Boars are undefeated in their last four and will be hoping that Josh Sapsed continues his fine form in front of goal as the striker has nine goals in those four games.

Sandhurst Town will be looking to get back to winning ways in the league when they welcome Bagshot to Bottom Meadow. The Fizzers lost a league game for the first time in almost two months last weekend but bounced back with a 4-2 midweek win over Chalvey Sports in the Berks & Bucks Trophy. Bagshot currently sit 12th in the league with fourteen points from sixteen games.

The only local Step 6 side not involved in a league match is Woodley United who entertain Hellenic League Division One West side Pewsey Vale in the Supplementary Cup.

Pewsey sit 5th in their division and are undefeated in the league since early September. The Kestrels will be hoping to build on a recent upturn in fortunes that has seen them take 10 points from their last 4 league games and climb off the foot of the table to 10th place.
