Football returns to the Bracknell Town & District Sunday League this weekend following the two-week Christmas break as teams embark upon the second half of what is proving to be a competitive season.

Positions at the top of no fewer than four of the five Divisions could change hands this weekend depending upon results.

We start by wishing both Winnersh Town and Bearwood Wanderers every success this weekend as they bid to join Woodley Saints in the hat for the quarter final draw of the Berks & Bucks Junior Trophy, their opponents for their 4th round (last 16) ties being FC Showcase and Crendon House respectively.

The season so far: Who made a mark in Tony’s Sunday League mid-season review?

In the Premier Division Crowthorne Inn bid to hold onto their slender lead at the top with a home tie against Morale Madrid knowing that any slip up could allow FC Ferrnhill to bite back if they were to beat WAB at home.

Third placed Raglan face a tough away trip to play Finchampstead Athletic. A mere 4 points currently separates the top 4 though FC Fernhill have two games in hand. Other games feature 7th placed Athletico Forest who play Panthers who still seek their first win of the campaign, and Golden Farmer Rangers entertain FC Meta.

Current leaders of Division 1 Loveman United face a tough challenge from 6th placed Bracknell Athletic. Any slip up from them could see either 2nd placed Finchampstead Athletic Reserves, who play Crowthorne FC, or 3rd placed Wokingham & Emmbrook, who play bottom team Panthers Reserves, re-take top spot.

Top billing in Division 2 sees Woodley Saints (6th) play top team Sandhurst FFC. The gap between the two is 18 points but Saints have played 5 games less. Elsewhere, Moore Close Manor have the chance to close up on Sandhurst, play Ashridge Park whilst 3rd placed Golden Farmer Rangers Reserves travel to play Silver Birch Dynamoes.

With leaders Bearwood Wanderers in cup action, the chasing pack have the opportunity of closing the 6-point advantage they currently hold at the top of Division 3 as 2nd placed Bracknell Cavaliers play bottom team Silver Birch A whilst 3rd placed Braybrooke Athletic travel to play Running Horse.

Crownwood Dukes could stretch their lead at the top of Division 4 with a win against Silver Birch 1st whilst Bracknell Cavaliers Reserves will go 2nd with a win against AFC Crowthorne Old Boys.
