Binfield FC manager Roger Herridge spoke to FiB after his sides 2-0 win at Highmoor-IBIS on Saturday afternoon that sets up a Reading Senior Cup final showdown with Henley Town on Thursday evening.

Herridge was delighted to reach a second successive final and is determined to go one better after defeat by former club Wokingham & Emmbrook in the 2015 final.

“Delighted to have reached the Reading Senior Cup Final . There wasn’t an awful lot between the sides but I just felt we had that extra bit of
quality in the final third.

“The squad was stretched to the limits today with a number of players unavailable but everyone played there part in a hardworking performance.”

Herridge was keen to single out members of the clubs Fielden Cup winning side for special praise with 19-year-old Jamie McCarthy in particular top of the Binfield boss’s list.

“Jamie McCarthy made his full debut and was excellent with a man of the match performance. Another reserve team regular Callum Carlisle – 19, was exemplary at right back as was Reid Brown also 19.

“Lewis Leonetti and captain Alex Luis in a back four that never looked like being breached.

“We now look forward to the final at the Madejski Stadium on Thursday hoping to go one better than last season.
