Transfer activity and player registrations might be fairly quiet locally – we’re expecting things to pick up from Thursday on wards – but that hasn’t stopped off the field action happening across the rest of the Uhlsport Hellenic League.

In Gloucestershire, it looks like recently promoted Cheltenham Saracens may be forced out of the league (who’s constitution was only revealed a week or so ago) altogether, while Highworth Town have been busy shopping for players at Southern League Swindon Supermarine.

Here’s all the news we know about teams in the Hellenic League so far, most links will take you to external sites.

Cheltenham Saracens

GloucestershireLive’s Jon Palmer has been all over this one. Essentially, the new manager Simon Goodwin resigned on Thursday night ‘citing frustrations about the club’s ambition as the primary reason for his decision’.

However, the Hellenic League have plan in place to keep the club in the league albeit back in Division 1 West.

We’ll see how this one unfolds but it would be a big blow to the Hellenic Premier Division which up until two weeks ago looked set for a 21 team top flight and may now only consist of 19 after North Greenford United were moved to the Combined Counties League.

Highworth Town

New manager Jeff Roberts has been a busy busy man, reshaping the squad following the retirement of John Fisher.

Her’s managed to persuade 33-year-old Swindon Supermarine captain Ross Adams to step down a division along with Marine teammates Ryan Stanners and Ashley Edenborough.

Expect the Worthians to be high on the pundits minds when they predict the divisions 2016/17 championship challengers.

Thatcham Town

We’ve previously revealed that former Bracknell Town manager Keith Pennicott-Bowen is off to coach at Thatcham Town, while the Robins have signed blues striker Ian Davies for the 16/17 campaign.

Royal Wootton Bassett Town

Bassett manager Paul Braithwaite has appointed former Swindon Supermarine (anyone left in Wiltshire??) reserve team Martyn Robinson to his backroom staff.
