Fear not fans you can get your midweek football fix tonight as Binfield host Wokingham & Emmbrook in the Martin Joyce Memorial Trophy.
Played annually between the two clubs, it’s played in honour of Martin Joyce who captained both teams before being killed in a car crash in 1967.
The game is particularly poignant for the Wokingham President Mark Ashwell whose wife Sue was Joyce’s niece.
Result: Wokingham log the trophy – full round up.
Traditionally played as a one-off friendly match (albeit competitive one at that), when the sides were in the same division (during the 2015/16 season for example) it was played over two legs with the league matches being used to determine the winner.
The reigning holders are the Moles who won 4-3 on aggregate last season as they won 2-1 at Wokingham in August before the sides played out a 2-2 draw at Hill Farm Lane on Boxing Day.
Get along to Binfield tonight (7.45pm kick-off) and support the match if you can.
