Binfield and Bracknell Town kick-off their Suburban Football League campaigns on Saturday afternoon, but Ascot United will have to wait a little longer to make their bow.

Bracknell, fresh from their FiB cup success have a long trek up to Berkhamstead in West Hertfordshire while Binfield are in Kent at Corinthhian FC

Binfield are into their second campaign in the Suburban League and play in the Premier, while Ascot and Bracknell are in the Central Division 1.

Young Moles manager Ellis Woods has a little bit of a selection headache thanks to a number of promotions to the first team who host Lydney Town at Hill Farm Lane.

Woods will be without captain Josh Smith who is away whole both player/coach Matt Davis and youngster Luke May will both be in the first team squad.

Pivotal

Woods described all three as ‘pivotal’ defensively last season at centre-back and will be a big miss for the game, however the changes mean opportunities for youngster Josh Griggs who is expected to go straight into the side.

We had quick chat with the Binfield boss and he said: “I’m excited to get the season started. Our goal as a group are always to maintain our position in the Suburban League Premier Division – it’s the best league around for our young players to develop and gain opportunities in the first team.”

Bracknell

Robins under 21s boss Liam Day will be embarking on his first campaign as a Suburban League manager. Bracknell switched across from Hellenic League Division 2 East in the summer and blew away the competition in the pre season cup scoring 16 goals.

Day will be joined by local rivals Ascot United who have also made the switch, but the Bracknell boss’s target will surely be promotion to the Premier Division at the first attempt.

United get underway on Tuesday night when they visit Hartley Wintney.
