The draw has been made for the 2016/17 Reading Senior Cup with current holders Henley Town one of seventeen teams in the draw.

Holyport will host Berks County in the solo First Round tie.

Sixteen teams will then compete in the Second Round and so on as the competition is played down to the last two with the final to be held at Reading’s Madejski Stadium.

The draw has a heavy East Berkshire feel to it with Ascot United electing to take part having previously entered the Aldershot Senior Cup instead.

All clubs are allowed to enter one miscellaneous cup competition per season so they couldn’t enter both the Aldershot Senior Cup and Reading Senior Cup and the Yellamen have chosen to join their local rivals in this cup this time around.

Watch the embarrassing moment Henley lift the Reading Senior Cup:

Sandhurst Town have elected to enter the Aldershot Senior Cup and if they overcome Badshot Lea in the First Round and they can look forward to hosting Aldershot Town in the Second Round.

AFC Aldermaston did not enter the competition but seven of our nine featured sides – Ascot United, Berks County, Binfield, Bracknell Town, Finchampstead, Wokingham & Emmbrook and Woodley United – are all in the draw with just Aldermaston and Sandhurst missing.

The pick of the Second Round matches for us is Wokingham & Emmbrook hosting fellow Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East side Woodley United. Woodley have only lost one league game all season and that was a thrilling 4-3 defeat away at the Sumas.

With the draw always mapping out the full route to the final, it also throws up the possibility of last year’s beaten finalists Binfield hosting Ascot in the Quarter Final.
