Sadly the headline is where the cheese imagery ends..

Bracknell’s football and rugby clubs are just a short distance from each other along the London Road between the Met Office round about and the Running Horse round about.

Both clubs play in relatively regional leagues, both play in front of three figure crowds and on Saturday both will play against teams from the Gloucestershire town of Lydney.

The rugby clubs twitter account posted on Monday that the weekend coming up was a Bracknell/Lydney double header:

We’ve just had a quick look back through the last few seasons rugby league tables and there is certainly nothing obvious in the last seven seasons.

There was scope for double headers in the 2012/13 season with Marlow and Newbury in the Hellenic Premier League AND rugby’s South West 1 East but unfortunately Bracknell’s football club were in Division 1 East at the time.

Anyway, for those who love a good coincidence like we do Bracknell Rugby Club travel west down the M4 on Saturday while Lydney Town AFC travel east. We can only hope they meet up at Membury Services for a latte.
