Former team-mates of an ex-Bracknell Town striker are lacing up their boots for a charity fundraiser as they hope to boost a fund for a ‘life changing’ operation – getbucks.co.uk is reporting.

Nathan Jack – Bracknell fans will remember – played one season at Larges Lane but left a hugely positive impression on fans during an otherwise disappointing season.

Get Bucks reports that Jack, 29 and now living in Newcastle, has suffered with cluster headaches, which leave him in unbearable pain for up to three hours at a time, since having a brain tumour as a teenager, and has worsened in recent years.

The neurological condition can last between 15 and 180 minutes, and Jack is currently having between three and seven attacks a day.

Nathan scored one of the best goals I’ve seen in non-league football. We were away at AFC Hayes in the Southern League and getting completely outplayed. Somehow going in to the final few minutes we were only 1-0 down. I forget who equalised for us but with literally seconds left on the clock, Nathan had the wherewithal to lob the goalkeeper from a good 30 yards – winning us a game we had no right too. I’ve never been as delirious after a goal as I was with that one. Nick Calvert

The North East website ChronicleLive.co.uk even has a video of the suffering Jack goes through with each attack.

Fundraising match

A host of Jack’s former team mates from clubs across the Buckinghamshire area are getting together for a charity match at Slough Town’s new Arbour Park ground on Sunday 29th January with kick-off at 2pm.

Current Flackwell Heath manager Paul Shone is taking part and said to Get Bucks: “Nathan grew up in the area and played for a lot of local teams. He is in a lot of discomfort, and we are doing all we can to help him try to live as normal a life as he can.

“His life has come to a standstill, so we are trying to get something done for him. He is a very likeable character, and what he is going through makes for uncomfortable viewing.”

Crowdfunding

A crowdfunding campaign setup to raise £40,000 for a life changing operation has already reached £51,000 despite only being setup on the 8th January.

The operation is not a cure as we understand it, there is no known cure for cluster headaches but would alleviate the symptons.

If you wanted to donate to Nathan’s fund, you can do so on the crowdfunding page here.
