Fresh from steering his side from second bottom in the Southern Region Women’s Football League Division 1 to at least runners up this time around, Ascot United Ladies manager Darrel Evans has received a ‘Manager of the Season’ nomination.

Evans side are top of the league at the time of writing having completed all their games, but only by a point from New Milton Town who have one game left to play.

Regardless though of whether the Yellawomen finish top or runners up, it has been a superb season for the side and Evans has done it while unearthing some talent within the club that includes young striker Amy Woollard – herself up for Young Player of the Season.

“This season, determined to prove to everybody that the team are more than capable of dominating the league Darrel worked hard to ensure the team trained hard, kept focused and had determination to go out and leave everything they had out on that pitch. His team currently sit top of the table – something they would have laughed at had you told them last season, but Darrel has always said you can and you will. If results go Ascot’s way it will be another league title and promotion for Darrel to add to his collection. The team have been unbeaten at home in the league and went on an 11 game unbeaten run throughout the whole of 2017 doing all they can to try and secure the top spot.”
