Recently appointed first team manager Jon Laugharne and his assistant Darren Purbrick have resigned from Henley Town after only 31 days tenure.

The former Finchampstead management duo attended Henley’s club AGM on Monday evening but events on the night made their positions untenable.

There were a few committee personnel changes with the biggest being the resignation of chairman Kim Chapman.

The newly appointed committee made it clear that the club does not want Reading based players and the general consensus was that the club will only have one Saturday side and one Sunday side playing at The Triangle Ground made up of local players playing more at a local football level and not in the Uhlsport Hellenic League.

The committee members involved in appointing the duo wanted them to stay but it became apparent that the support of the club was not there leaving Laugharne and Purbrick no choice but to resign their positions.

As far as we are aware, Henley Town have not yet resigned from the Hellenic League but we would not be surprised were this to happen.

Laugharne has telephoned all of the players who said they would join him for pre-season advising them to find other clubs and he is disappointed at not being able to manage in the Buldbase FA Vase having been looking forward to that.

Henley struggled in 2016/17 in the Hellenic Premier Division, eventually being relegated after winning promotion and the Reading Senior Cup in 15/16.
