Three East Berkshire sides are in FA Vase Second Qualifying Round action at the weekend – coincidentally all against Sydenhams Wessex League sides – so we thought we’d take a look at the form of Binfield, Sandhurst Town and Windsor’s opponents.

Fareham Town vs Binfield

September has not been kind to South Coast and Wessex Premier Division side Fareham. Just off the M27 between Southampton and Portmouth, the Creeksiders have lost all five games in the month and have only managed three wins from 14 games (and no draws) all season.

Binfield’s form has been up and down of late but with a couple of new signings in centre back Ryan Millward and goalkeeper Henry Craven from Thame United a solid performance should see the Moles through.

The Moles should also have new striker Ian Davies available as he didn’t appear in the Vase for previous club Woodley United.

Sandhurst Town vs Ringwood Town

It’s a fairly long trip up to Sandhurst for Wessex Division 1 side Ringwood on Saturday and have won their last four games (one was a penalty shoot out) including a 7-3 victory over Verwood Town last week in the league.

Ringwood – marvellous brewery aside – conquered Eversley & California in the previous round of the Vase but were on the end of a 6-0 defeat to Ascot United in the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup.

Windsor vs Whitchurch United

Relegated from the Premier Division last season, Whitchurch haven’t exactly started on fire this time around with two defeats in their most recent fixtures. They have one of the worst defensive records in Division 1 – only Ringwood, Totton & Eling and Folland Sports have conceded more and Windsor have Barry Hayles, Haydon Clack and Nadir Shafi.
