Former Highmoor Ibis manager and football league veteran Marcus Richardson has been confirmed as the new boss of Hellenic Premier Division promotion chasers Flackwell Heath.

The Heathens parted company with Paul Shone nearly a fortnight ago and confirmed today via their website that Richardson was the new man in.

Earlier, the Maidenhead Advertiser had reported that they expected Richardson to be appointed while the Bracknell News reported on Wednesday that one candidate – Mark Tallentire – had turned down the role.

The Advertiser said: “Richardson [is] expected to meet the players at training tonight (Thursday) before taking the club into Saturday’s home match against Abingdon United.”

In a previous Advertiser article (you can read in full here), Flackwell chairman Terry Glynn had said: “All the players have agreed to stay on. No players have left. We’re keen to keep things ticking over and want to push for promotion.

“Hopefully the manager who comes in will have the mindset of wanting to go for promotion too. That’s what we’re aiming for till the end of the season. Everything is in place at this club and it’s a great opportunity for whoever comes in to take us to the next level.”
