Sam Barratt officially unveiled as a Southend United player

Sam Barratt has been officially unveiled as a Southend United player after joining the EFL League One club from National League Maidenhead United.

The announcement on the Shrimpers official website states Barratt has signed a one-year contract with the club: “The 22-year-old winger joins for an undisclosed fee from the Vanarama National League side.

Barratt has signed a one-year contract which includes the option of a second and becomes Chris Powell’s first signing of the summer.”

Sam has already been busy responding to his new clubs fans on social media, impressing supporters and responding to tweets including this one from @SUFCloyal:

Speaking to the Southend Echo, Barratt said: “I can’t really explain in words just how excited I am about this opportunity and how hungry I am to make it work.

“It’s my first professional club and it’s what I’ve always wanted.

“I can’t wait for pre-season to come around and to start working towards next season because this is the chance I’ve been waiting for.”
