Thank you to everyone who came out to the Bracknell Football Awards tonight, it was brilliant to see something Darrell and I cobbled together so well supported. It means an awful lot to us.

Now you came here for the winners, I know that. But first I want to thank Dan Sleet from Elite Preparation Centre who paid for the evening (please check out their website www.e-p-c.co.uk), Tom White from Sky Sports News who was an absolute gent and Neil Graham for taking all the photo’s on the night.

Here’s what I said in case you didn’t catch our facebook live: “Welcome to the Bracknell Football Awards, we wanted to thank Dan Sleet at the Elite Preparation Centre for sponsoring the event – without which we wouldn’t be able to do this!

“Darrell and I – I’m Tom, setup the website to basically encourage people to get involved, go and watch and enjoy non league football and we try and do that on a daily basis!

“The awards.. They were setup to celebrate the great and the good in the local non league game, from the semi professional clubs down to the hundreds of junior teams, players and volunteers so vital to ensuring the game takes place.

“Frankly. Everyone here deserves and award and anyone who does anything within the local game, from adult teams to junior clubs, and if we could afford it then we would! Thanks for your support, thanks for being here and enjoy the evening.”

Two very different footballers but two players who played an integral part for their team. 31 goals for Joe this year from a predominantly wide position on either flank and countless assists too. James has played every minute these past two league campaigns and doesn’t always get recognition in the centre of the park but another key player.

Service to the Game Award

Our long service award. Here’s what we read out: Barry can’t be with us tonight but has been a Sunday League referee for many years. Known as ‘Barry the Book’ he recently had to give up reffing due to ill health.

Barry writes: “Unfortunately due to bad health I have had to give up refereeing mens football on Sundays and also older youth teams because I get very breathless.

I miss this so much as I have made so many friends in my refereeing career and enjoyed so much fun over the years and met some great people. BesBES

At the moment I am still able to referee U7-U9 which I still enjoy doing and have registered again this year which will be my 33rd season.

Please give my best wishes and my sincere apologies to everyone who attends and tell them BARRY THE BOOK is not finished yet.
