Following the Hellenic League’s AGM at the weekend it appears the Premier Division will run with 19 teams next season.

It seems that Oxford City Nomads have resigned from the league and left it a side short – although we should say there has been no official confirmation from the club or league as far as we are aware.

The move is a surprising one with Nomads integral to the Hellenic League since 2005 when they were known as Oxford Quarry Nomads. The club even lifted the league title in 2011.

It would seem though that parent club and National League South side Oxford City have cut the team.

What could happen now?

We must say that this is speculation on our part, but the FA could offer a reprieve to Woodley United who are next in line after both Reading City and Fairford Town avoided the drop.

As far as we know it is a decision for the FA rather than the Hellenic League but it would seem a little late in the day to make the change.

Ironically, it looks like last seasons Supplementary Cup Final – which you may recall ended in farce with several clubs fielding ineligible players, will be played at Nomads ground on 31st July between Flackwell Heath and Holyport.
