Binfield open with Ardley United Hellenic League Premier away day

Binfield manager Roger Herridge appears to have kept together the majority of his first team squad from last season, and having finally broken his silverware duck will undoubtedly be preparing his side to push on this season.

The opening fixtures for the 2018/19 Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division season have given Binfield an away day to Ardley United and a subsequent trip to Oxfordshire three days later to face one of the division’s fancied sides, Wantage Town.

Herridge has added FA Vase winner and former player Jemel Johnson to his squad but the club haven’t yet announced any additional signings – though in Ian Davies and James Knight they have two of the leagues most reliable players up front and in the centre of midfield.

If consistency at a club really matters, then Binfield are a model of it – they haven’t finished outside of the top eight since becoming a step 5 side in 2009. Last season they finished seventh after a run of four successive defeats saw them lose out on 6th place.

If the Moles are to push on they probably need someone to weigh in and support 30 goal striker Davies – his nearest challengers were Josh Howell and Sean Moore who both scored 12 each in all competitions.
