Monday night football for Reading City and a TJ Bohane hat trick

Reading City can take an early lead in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division on Monday night as they play their second game of the fledgling season in quick succession.

The Scours Lane side beat Shrivenham convincingly on Saturday afternoon with Mitchell Parker scoring four of the newly named sides five goals with Jack Powell nabbing the other in a 5-1 win.

Abingdon United are the visitors to Reading on Monday night, our ground guide for visiting supporters is here – and they suffered a 2-0 opening day defeat at Holmer Green.

City were kept off top spot by Royal Wootton Bassett Town who put six past Tuffley Rovers in a 6-1 victory. New signing TJ Bohane scored a hat-trick on his second debut for the club while former Binfield winger Brad Pagliaroli scored two.

Wantage Town made hard work of things at Fairford Town, the Freds were 2-0 down until a penalty inspired a comeback and a 3-2 win – though there was some controversy over the equaliser with the home side claiming it had hit the side netting.

The midweek fixtures include Ascot United at home to Ardley United on Tuesday night while Binfield aim to continue their flying start at Wantage.

Look out for the first step 6 review on Wednesday from Rob Davies who was at the stunning fixture between Abingdon Town and Woodley United – the former eventually winning 6-4 in Division 1 East and a full midweek preview from Tom Canning on Tuesday.
