Bracknell Town manager Carl Davies has reacted positively to the Robins FA Trophy draw against a Bostik League Premier Division side.

Player/manager Davies spoke to Football in Bracknell following the First Qualifying Round draw and said it would be good for his side to pit themselves against a team in a higher division, especially as it is a position that the Larges Lane club themselves aim to get to.

Davies said: “It’s an exciting draw. We hoped for a home game and we got just that. They are in a league that we aspire to be in in the not too distant future so it’ll be good to pit ourselves against a team in the top three of that division. It’s a game both myself and Gavin Smith are really looking forward to it.”

Bracknell beat Haywards Heath Town 3-2 on Saturday and were drawn at home to the South Coast side in Monday’s First Qualifying Round draw.

It will undoubtedly be a tough outing against Bognor, the Rocks are third in the Premier Division and are yet to taste defeat in the league.

Not that it matters one jot ahead of the fixture on Saturday 27th October, but the two sides met during the 1993/94 FA Cup, Bognor winning a Preliminary Round replay 5-0 after a 3-3 draw at Larges Lane while Bracknell were, if memory serves, the only side to do the double over the Rocks in the 2002/03 Isthmian League Division 1 South season.
