Ascot United striker scored on International Duty on Saturday for the Panjab FA in a 5-4 defeat to Yorkshire IFA, both members of the CONIFA federation.

The match was played at Ingfield Stadium, the home ground of Ossett Town in Yorkshire and Minhas fired his sides second on 12 minutes after Windsor’s Jeevan Panesar had got a first minute opener.

Yorkshire then took a 3-2 lead but Panjab turned it around to 4-3 only for Yorkshire to equalise and then win it on 72 minutes.

Panjab’s manager Manraj Singh tweeted: “Extremely proud of all the lads that played for Panjab today, some goals we conceded were disappointing. But every goal we scored had quality! 4-5 a close game vs Yorkshire IFA with only 6 players from the CONIFA World Cup squad!”

Minhas is the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division’s top scorer with 20 league goals, 25 in all competitions for Ascot and has been snapped up by Vanarama National League South side Billericay Town for the 2019/20 campaign. He is on loan with the Yellamen for the remainder of the season.

Midfielder Panesar, a former Maidenhead United youngster has played 19 times this season for Windsor scoring four times.

It’s been a busy period for step four and five players on international duty with Bracknell Town forward Liam Ferdinand playing for an FA Rep XI in the Falkland Islands alongside ex-Reading City striker Mitchell Parker.
