Bracknell Town edged past Felixstowe & Walton United in the Velocity Cup on Tuesday night at Larges Lane and the Robins now find themselves in the Quarter Finals of the Bostik League Cup.
The Robins, who beat Felixstowe 3-1 will be one of only two Bostik League Division 1 sides left in the competition with Whitstable Town playing in the South East Division.
The County and Bostik League level of seven of the last eight are Bracknell Town (Berkshire – Division 1), Whitstable Town (Kent – Division 1), Folkestone Invicta (Kent – Premier), Burgess Hill Town (West Sussex – Premier), Enfield Town (North London – Premier), AFC Hornchurch (East London – Premier) and Merstham (Surrey – Premier).
There are some familiar club names in that list for long time Robins watchers, particularly Merstham who were victims of Bracknell on the way to the First Round Proper of the FA Cup and Worthing who played host to a memorable (if slightly hazy) away day during the 2002/03 season (update: Sadly they exited on Tuesday night).
Here’s the draw for the Quarter Finals, scheduled for Tuesday 15th January:
- Merstham v Wingate & Finchley OR Bishop’s Stortford
- Enfield Town v Burgess Hill Town
- AFC Hornchurch v Whitstable Town
- Bracknell Town v Folkestone Invicta
Bracknell Town’s Velocity Trophy run so far:
Preliminary Round: Bracknell Town 3-3 Kingstonian (Bracknell Town win 5 – 4 on penalties)
First Round: Bracknell Town 3-1 Horsham
Second Round: Egham Town 0-1 Bracknell Town
Third Round: Bracknell Town 3-1 Felixstowe & Walton United
