Thames Valley Premier League side Marlow United could make a return to the Uhlsport Hellenic League next season.
The club are the only TVPL side to apply for promotion according to a statement released on the FA website.
It reads: “We can announce the National League System applicants seeking promotion from Step 7 to 6.
“We’ve received applications from 52 clubs operating at Step 7 who have applied to be considered for promotion at the end of the 2018-19 season, with each Step 7 division being capable of producing one candidate.
“Each application will now be assessed to validate the eligibility of each club from a ground grading, ground-sharing (i.e. must be in the same ground next season as the whole of the 2018-19 season) and regulatory point of view.
“All other promotions at Step 6 and above are automatic and are dealt with in accordance with the Regulations for the Operation of the National League System.”
Previously in the Hellenic League
United were previously members of the Hellenic for four seasons between 2006 and 2010, winning Division 1 East in 2008 and spending two seasons in the Premier Division before returning to the Thames Valley League.
During this period United won the 2008/09 Hellenic League Floodlit Cup, beating now National League South side Hungerford Town 3-2 at Bulpit Lane.
To maintain Premier Division status at the time, United were ground sharing with Flackwell Heath at Wilkes Park. A proposed sharing agreement with Marlow failed to materialise at the end of the 2009/10 season , although it’s worth noting the club do now play their TVPL fixtures at Oak Tree Road.
After returning to the Thames Valley League, United won the competition in 2014/15 and twice finished runners up. Last season they finished sixth and are currently fourth with games in hand.
The last club to make the jump from the TVPL to the Hellenic was AFC Aldermaston who were promoted from seventh at the end of the 2015/16 season.
