Fresh from sharing the manager of the Season award last summer with Marc Surtees, this year Nuno Antunes has been nominated as Volunteer of the Season at the EPC Bracknell Football Awards.

According to the nominations received, Antunes has expanded his role at Woodley United where he co-manages the clubs successful ladies team.

Nomination one says: “Nuno is being nominated due to the number of roles he undertakes within Woodley United FC and the enthusiasm he generates in undertaking them and engaging with club members thus encouraging members to become more involved. In addition to being assistant manager for the club’s Ladies’ team, Nuno is the club’s Head of Football Development and kit officer responsible for managing the relationship with the club’s kit supplier. If these roles are not enough to keep him busy he regularly attends Saturday men’s team training and supports one of the club’s three men’s teams on Saturday afternoons while assisting with the weekly Saturday morning girls’ sessions when required. The close season still sees Nuno busy with club activity particularly with him giving his time voluntarily throughout the weekend of the club’s small a side tournament being on site throughout both days undertaking tasks and giving support to colleagues. Nuno is the glue that all clubs need working tirelessly behind the scenes providing football for so many within the club.”

A second nomination reads: “Nunos dedication, commitment and effort towards Woodley United has been astonishing! He has given his time along with heaps of hours to a club which rely on him plenty! His commitment to the ladies team has been incredible, giving up his Thursday evenings to train the ladies as well as Sunday for matchdays. Nuno has also been instrumental in the Girls session on Saturday morning, encouraging and promoting girls football. He also plays a huge part in the men’s section too, giving up nearly all his Saturday to help and support them. He also does so much behind the scenes, working with the club to establish themselves further. If you ever need a helping hand Nuno is definitely the person to go too! He was a massive help at the hugely successful Woodley tournament running back and forth to make sure everything was running smoothly. Nuno is an asset to the club and I hope he knows how much he is appreciated by us ALL! Thanks Nuno”
