Former Bracknell Town manager Geoff Warner is back in football and will be coaching again in the Uhlsport Hellenic League next season.

Warner led Bracknell Town to a runners up spot in the Bostik League South Central Division One as well as the play off final and semi final of the League Cup and will now link up with Paul Shone as assistant manager at promoted Burnham.

Speaking to Football in Berkshire, Warner said: “I’ve had a few offers but I’ve known and worked with the guys running Burnham and chairman Nas Bashir in particular for 20 years.

“They’re people I know and trust and I am looking forward to working with Shoney and getting involved with football again.”

Burnham have undoubtedly got themselves a coach with some serious pedigree. Warner – who is shortlisted for the EPC Bracknell Football Awards Manager of the Season – has experience coaching at the likes of Reading and Fulham as well as managing Beaconsfield SYCOB before he moved to coach at Larges Lane.

Having left Bracknell at the start of May, Warner spoke to FiB and said he was proud of what he’d achieved at his home town club. He said: “I’m gutted to be honest, I’ve had experience working at Premier League clubs, and working with some top players but Bracknell’s my home town club.”

Warner joins a Burnham side in the midst of a bit of a rebirth. The club won the step 4 Southern League Division One Central in 2012/13 but since then a downward spiral saw the club drop three divisions to the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East in five seasons.

Bashir took over the club in May 2018 (Maidenhead Advertiser article on that here) with the Blues already relegated to to step 6 and Division One East from the Hellenic Premier, but with former Flackwell Heath boss Shone at the helm the Buckinghamshire side won promotion back to step 5 at the first opportunity losing just four league games and scoring 85 goals.
