This one ALMOST snuck past us, almost. But on Saturday former Hellenic League defence tormentor Joe Grant made his Vanarama National League South debut for Slough Town.

Grant had performed well in pre season but picked up an injury that kept him out of the opening games of the season at home to Dorking Wanderers and away to Hungerford Town.

On Saturday though he was named among the substitutes as the Rebels travelled to Canvey Island in Essex to face Concord and made his bow in the 70th minute as a replacement for Francis Amartey, 12 minutes after the home side had retaken the lead.

It’s been a tough start to the season for Grant’s new side after he departed Bracknell Town. Slough have lost all three opening fixtures by one-goal margins and Grant has been sidelined with former Windsor striker Dan Roberts who had been serving a suspension.

Slough are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Weymouth at Arbour Park. Match night details here on the Slough website.
