Binfield head in to their FA Vase First Round tie with Egham Town on Tuesday night short of pacey striker Asa Povey, who manager Roger Herridge revealed is set to miss three weeks with ankle ligament damage.

The fixture, originally scheduled for Saturday didn’t survive the weather, giving the Moles more time to stew over the 4-1 defeat at Tuffley Rovers nearly ten days ago.

Herridge said: “It’s important we bounce back after the Tuffley result. I wasn’t there but on the day we simply weren’t good enough and tonight’s team selection will be a reflection of that performance.”

In more positive news for Binfield fans, Herridge revealed that new signings George Short (Winchester City) and Calam Gallimore (dual registered with Marlow) would be in the squad.

Another manager with a new signing is Ascot United boss Jamie Tompkins who has added Banstead Athletic and former Leatherhead midfielder Antonio Dembele to his squad ahead of the Premier Division tie with Camberley Town at the Racecourse Ground.

Tompkins said: “We have most players returning from injury just in time for a busy few weeks. Antonio will feature in the game tonight but James Richardson has a pulled hamstring so he will spend some time out.”

Banbury Litho Floodlit Cup

There are a raft of Hellenic League Floodlit Cup ties but in Hellenic League Division One East Holyport make the short trip to Marlow United.

Port boss Derek Sweetman said: “We have almost a full squad to choose from for the first time in a while. George Lock is doubtful as is Adam Sharp. Returning to the squad is Josh Lowther and Alfie Adam’s.”

Speaking of the Floodlit Cup as we were, Chalvey Sports entertain Woodley United with Stabmonks boss Matty Young rueing his sides discipline. He said: “I’m starting to sound like a broken record. 10 out tonight, but our own discipline on the pitch contributes to that. Four suspended, three working, three injured.

“However, three return to the squad after long absences and new signing Cheyenne Cripps will play some part tonight, so while we are missing players we are not down. Our recent form has not been anything to brag about and we can’t seem to buy a win at present. So maybe a change of personnel is something that may help us.”

Virginia Water ‘travel’ to landlords Windsor for what boss Ceri Edwards called ‘a real tough encounter’.

He said: “We welcome back Mark Lansdowne and Lorenzo di Felice, two long term absentees to the squad, and Josh Hennah returns after missing the weekend match. We know we are in fora real tough encounter, having seen the Windsor squad strengthening of late.”
