Woodley United host Abingdon United at The Rivermoor on Monday night in what is arguably the toughest test for new boss Jamie Williams since taking over from Jon Laugharne before Christmas.

The Kestrels have been on a good run winning their last three games – one of those a cup tie at Chalfont Wasps – but still sit 16th of 17 in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East.

On Monday night though, Williams side face second placed Abingdon United but may benefit from more recent match action with the visitors only minutes since 14th December being the now infamous 45 minutes of a match played against neighbours Abingdon Town.

Speaking to Football in Berkshire, Williams confirmed his side would benefit from the inclusion of Wycombe Wanderers boss and former QPR midfielder Gareth Ainsworth in the side while goalkeeper Pete Davies replaces Craig McCreeth in goal.

Meanwhile, Woodley goalkeeper coach Rachael Laws will be back on the Kestrels bench on Monday night, 24 hours after facing Chelsea Women’s Australian superstar Sam Kerr in the FA WSL.

Laws played 70 minutes for Reading FC Women on Sunday after replacing Grace Moloney in goal. The Royals number one was sent off on 18 minutes after fouling Kerr outside the penalty box, earning a straight red card from Stacey Pearson.
