Bracknell Sunday League calls an end to the 2019/20 season

Following the recent Covid-19 update provided by the FA, confirming that “All grassroots football is concluded for the 2019-20 season”, the Bracknell Town & District Sunday League have called a halt to the season and declared the competition null and void with no championships or trophies to be awarded.

The League have informed clubs that it does still wish to conclude its League Senior and Junior Cup competitions with the one remaining semi-final and the two final ties to be played at the start of season 2020/21.

The League has also informed its existing clubs that the annual subscription fee is to be waived next season.

A spokesman for the League said, “It’s been a much disrupted season since January with awful weather conditions causing the postponement of large numbers of fixtures followed by the enforced suspension through this awful pandemic. At the time the League was suspended (16th March) we had a total of 160 League fixtures still to be played and, with no indication when the suspension could be lifted, it was always going to be a tall order to complete our fixture programme before our extended season end date of 31st May. Throughout this challenging period football comes a distant second to the safety and well-being of all associated with our League”.

Advanced preparation for the new 2020/21 has now commenced.

Finally, the League has received guidance on Sport Insurance provided by Blue Fin and clubs are advised that:

  1. All Personal Accident policies to remain in force until the expiry date, 30 June 2020
  2. At the next renewal, all premiums will be discounted to reflect the period of inactivity, due to the Government measures, up to 31 May 2020
