The curtailed season will have been disappointing for Ascot United’s men’s first team, but that hasn’t stopped the managerial nomination coming in for the teams boss Jamie Tompkins.

In his second season in the top job after taking over from Neil Richards, Tompkins side were top of the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division and had beaten nearest rivals Spelthorne Sports in the final match before lockdown.

One nomination reads: “Jamie is simply the best manager around in the local area at just 29 years old. Building on last seasons success of a Hellenic League Cup win, his Ascot United side have topped the CCL for 6 of the 7 months and still in the league cup with a quarter final vs Jersey Bulls. The team were on course to win the league and promotion to step 4. The highest the club would have ever played. All with a very young squad and great experienced signing in Ian Davies over last summer. It’s fantastic to witness a manager trusting in young players, watching them all continue to develop and compete at a high standard.”

Want to vote for Jamie in the awards, or have your own nominations to put forward in different categories? Maybe the best player or referee you’ve seen? Or reporter you’ve read? Fill out the form below. Don’t forget to share this post on social media.
