It wasn’t quite the Super Sunday Slough Town fans were hoping for as the resumption of the Vanarama National League South – in the form of play-offs – after the Rebels were beaten 3-0 at home to Dartford.

Neil Baker and Jon Underwood’s side had the carrot of promotion to the National League dangled in front them if they could win three matches in a row, starting with an eliminator tie against the Darts.

The match, behind closed doors at Arbour Park but streamed live on the internet, saw Slough start brightly but the Rebels were unable to convert early chances that fell to Josh Jackman and Ryan Bird while Warren Harris couldn’t quite get enough on a cross before the half time break.

It was Darts Charlie Sheringham who knocked the wind out of the home sides sails, the son of former England forward Teddy gave visitors a 1-0 lead on 47 minutes and doubled the advantage on 55 minutes.

Slough made changes with Dan Roberts, Aaron Kuhl and Scott Davies all joining the action but it was game over on 85 minutes when Luke Wanadio made it 3-0 and put any hopes of a late revival to bed.

Dartford move on to play Havant & Waterlooville in the semi final on Saturday 25th July. If you want to watch the rest of the matches, there’s full details here.

Slough Town: Jack Turner, Josh Jackman, George Wells, Guy Hollis, Ryan Bird, Lee Togwell, Sam Togwell, Matty Lench, Warren Harris, Max Worsfold, Ben Harris. Subs used: Scott Davies, Aaron Kuhl, Dan Roberts and Paul Hodges. Subs not used: Sean Fraser and Manny Williams.
