Hello! You thought we’d forgotten about the goal of the month competition we launched at the end of August for, well, August.

What actually happened was that football really got going and we’ve literally not stopped since then, but enough of the excuses, you want to know who won the competition don’t you?

A reminder of all the nominees:

  • Stephen Gillett-Cole (Slough United 3rds)
  • Brad Pagliaroli (Thatcham Town)
  • Callum Fox-Spence (Hype Train)
  • Andrej Homola (Reading YMCA)
  • Aidan Kirk (Wallingford Town)
  • Tom Marrs (Burghfield)
  • Matt Hudson (Finchampstead)
  • Connor Allston (Eversley & California)

We then asked legendary Berkshire goal-getter and Ascot United striker Ian Davies to narrow these down to four and he went with Brad, Tom, Matt and Connor. Those four goals went to a public vote and one winner, weighted against Ian’s choices can now be revealed as..

Ian’s comments on the four goals, which you can watch here, were:

Tom Marrs: “Clear winner – so often you see them sail over the bar”

Connor Allston: “When your CB starts and finishes a move, not often you see that.”

Brad Pagliaroli: “Second place – having grown up when Mark Hughes was a striker….I love a volley!!!”

Matt Hudson: “Best of the free kicks on here for me”
