With every lockdown comes a new Football in Berkshire virtual cup and we’re absolutely delighted to have the first set of fixtures completed.

Back during lockdown one, we ran a virtual Berkshire County Cup in a Champions League format featuring the biggest men’s and women’s teams across the county.

Thames Valley Premier League side Finchampstead were the eventual Senior Cup winners, beating Caversham United in the final while Reading YMCA edged out William Twigg Albion in the Junior Cup with tens of thousands of votes cast over the month.

Moving into lockdown two through November, we’ve decided to run an Invitational Knockout Cup for, mostly teams from Berkshire, with a few guests and we’re being supported by the amazing Siren Craft Brew who will provide a few top class beers for the winner. You can see the full draw below.

What’s the point I hear you ask? Put simply, it’s a lot more intense than it sounds, especially when the polls near their end and the votes are close. It also helps clubs build followings online and just from an FiB point of view, we got to know a lot of clubs we’d never spoken to before.

So, this time it’s a straight knockout, no second chances, 128 teams down to two over the next month. Follow all the action on the Twitter hashtag #FIBIVC2020.
