Running a football team is hard.

Ensuring everyone is in the right place at the right time, no unexpected holes in the nets, having enough change to pay the referee and let’s not even talk about whether the clocks are going back or forward.

Of course, then there’s washing the kit, which needs doing whether you won 3-0 or lost for the fifth time in a row as highlighted by former Wokingham & Emmbrook Reserves manager Clive McNelly in 2016.

Clive, as ever, showing exactly what it is to be a club stalwart – two defeats and 12 goals conceded in four days, but you’ve still got to wash the kit.

Now after two incomplete seasons, hygiene and cleanliness and foremost in our minds, so Football in Berkshire has teamed up with Dettol and their #WePlayOn campaign to offer grassroots clubs the chance to win some fantastic prizes.

Earlier this year, Dettol partnered with The FA to support good hygiene habits across the nations most loved sport, football. Including England’s mens and womens national teams, and the grassroots football community.

Dettol are encouraging the grassroots community to implement and maintain good hygiene habits so they can continue to play the game they love. To date, hygiene checklists for training and matchdays have been made available to the clubs and community so they can implement effective cleaning practices at their club as well as access to Dettols cleaning and disinfection products through the new Dettol Club Shop at playon.dettol.co.uk

What’s on offer?

  • First Prize (1 club): Clubhouse deep clean, former England player training session, Nike kit, Dettol hygiene pack
  • Second Prize (3 clubs): Nike kit, England Matchday tickets, Dettol hygiene pack
  • Third Prize (5 clubs): Nike kit, Dettol hygiene pack

What do you have to do to be in with a chance of winning?

As part of the #WePlayOn campaign Dettol are encouraging the grassroots community to tell their stories of a time they have played on through tough conditions, focussing on the resilience of the back-bone of English football, the grassroots community.

Share your stories on Twitter of how you, or your club, have played on by tagging @Dettol_UK and using the hashtag #WePlayOn
