Caversham United Women’s manager Georgia Graham has picked up a nod for the Berkshire Football Awards in the Eddie Stobart Manager of the Season category.

The Goats boss could still see her side finish in the top three of the Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League Division One but the clubs crowning achievements in their first season were the cup runs – reaching the Berks & Bucks County FA Cup Final and facing QPR in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup.

The nomination we received for Georgia said: “Caversham United Women were entering their debut season as a group. As many of the players had previous involvement in the TVCWFL, the team entered in Division One (Tier 7). They surpassed all expectations. After a slow start getting used to being Goats, Georgia expertly led the team to 9 wins in 10 games and of course the cup runs! In the Women’s FA Cup they beat Warminster Town and Eversley & California, and held their own against Tier 4 QPR Women away! In the League Cup – made the Quarter Finals, including a double-figure rout, but could not fulfil the QF due to squad availability. The Berks & Bucks FA Women’s Trophy they were beaten finalists. A superb run to get there and ultimately came up short on the big occasion. A phenomenal achievement in their first season as a team, which is strongly attributed to Georgia’s direction. Did I mention that she didn’t even want to be the manager, and only took the role due to injury…?”
