The weather put paid to four games in Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East but Wokingham & Emmbrook pulled off a draw with high flying Bicester Town while in the Thames Valley Premier Berks County continued their good run with a 1-0 home win.

For Binfield, it was a late goal in the final quarter of an hour that saw them drop two point at home to Oxford City Nomads.

Grant Kemp had given Roger Herridge’s side the lead minutes earlier giving the Moles site of a first league win in nine games but Deon Gallagher had other ideas for the visitors.

FA Vase

In the FA Vase first round proper, Ascot United lost 2-1 at Newhaven on the South Coast after a 92 minute winner for the Dockers.

The home side scored first on the hour with James Goodey equalised eight minutes later before the Yellamen suffered the heartbreak of a late late winner – ironically how the side from the Racecourse Ground defeated Hollands & Blair in the previous round.

Thames Valley Premier

Berks County continued their fine season and new manager Nathan Baker’s unbeaten start to life in the hot seat at Bracknell Leisure Centre – the Swords beat Wraysbury Village 1-0 in the the Premier Division.

A second half goal from Jonny Gosnell was enough to snatch the three points in a game that the visitors can feel a little aggrieved to have got nothing from.

Hellenic Division 1 East

Two league games survived the weather – one being an excellent point for Wokingham & Emmbrook in a 1-1 draw away to second placed Bicester Town.

The Sumas started with new signing James Charlton at the back but it was Ben Findlay who bagged the equaliser for Clive McNelly’s side in a game that saw both sides reduced to 10-men, Sam Lawrence seeing red late on for Wokingham.
