Up for the (County) Cup

It was complete and utter heartbreak for Whitegrove who finally played their County Cup tie on Sunday, and were involved in one of the most monumental of all comebacks – only to be pipped to the death in what can only be described as a THIRTEEN GOAL THRILLER*

Whitegrove went out to Three Horses by a score of 7-6 having trailed by five goals to one, and six goals to three during the game with the score at 5-3 at half time.

The Greens clawed their way back to 6-6 with 10 minutes to go but conceded a last minute penalty to see them exit the competition.

Groves’ goals came from Alfie Sparrow (2), Jim Hardy, Lee Blackman, Justin Swyer and Levi Tippett.

There was also a Junior Trophy defeat for Crowthorne Inn who went out at the Quarter Final stage following a 2-1 defeat at home Wellesbourne while AFC Crowthorne Reserves were beaten 2-0 at Englefield Eagles Reds.

*Caps absolutely necessary.

Big scores

10 is this weeks magic number!

Two 8-2 victories to report as FC Fernhill went to town on second placed Golden Farmer Rangers.

Fernhill are well behind in terms of games played in the Premier Division – they have four in hand on most sides – but narrowed the gap to the top with a thumping win.

The other 8-2 came in Division 1 with Finchampstead Athletic Sunday Reserves beating Winkfield – the result sending Finch to the top of the division, though they’ve played three more times than previous leaders Crowthorne Inn.

Top of the league

One change, this time in Division 3 as Ashridge Park under 21s overhauled Bearwood Wanderers (who were without a game) with a 4-0 win at home to Crown Wood Dukes.

In Division 2, WAB closed the gap on leaders Berkshire All Stars after beating Warfield United 3-1. They are four points off the top with a game in hand.

Brilliant free kick goal from WAB:

Clean sheets

A rarity in Sunday League so we celebrate the four from the weekend..

Four clean sheets in the league at the weekend, all in Division 3 with Ashridge mentioned above, Bracknell Falcons beating Bracknell Titans 1-0, FC Harmans Water defeating Bracknell Cavaliers under 21s 3-0 and Silver Birch winning 2-0 at Finchampstead Athletic Sunday ‘A’ with one of the goals coming via veteran speedster Darren Austin.

And finally..

The end of a seven game unbeaten run for Premier Division leaders Bracknell Cavaliers as they lost 3-2 at Finchampstead Athletic Sunday.

Cavs maintained their six point lead at the top of the table though with second placed Golden Farmers defeat.
