Bracknell News sports reporter Dave Wright has revealed Monday night’s Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup tie between Highmoor Ibis and Bracknell Town was called off with 15 minutes remaining as the referee feared for his safety.

Reporting in this weeks News – available in newsagents today – Wright said: “Starting from the 52nd minute, there were four cautions in a short space of time before [Highmoor’s Ibe] Bangura saw red.

“Having whipped off his shirt, the player looked angry as he confronted the referee and had to be dragged away by Bracknell’s Philip John.

“Other Highmoor players surrounded the [referee] Kennett before he decided to call off the game.”
