This weeks round up of what’s been making the local papers features the Bracknell News, Wokingham Paper and Maidenhead Advertiser.

Binfield boss Roger Herridge was full of praise for his players after their win in Gloucestershire against Brimscombe & Thrupp on Saturday. He said to the Bracknell News: “It was a tough place to go to, so we’re delighted to come away with all three points.

“For the neutrals, it was a great game to watch as it was end-to-end and, perhaps, a draw might have been a fair result, but we worked hard, dug in and deserved the odd bit of luck.

“This group of players are getting better each week.”

Wokingham & Emmbrook boss Dan Bateman has said the Football Association must act after seeing Henley Town withdraw from the Hellenic League Division 1 East in the week.

Speaking to the Wokingham Paper Bateman said: “It’s not really a local thing, I think the worry is what the FA is doing to clubs at step five and six,” said Bateman.

“I think they’ve lost a little bit of touch with reality.

“They look at clubs like this and even if you get a good crowd at Henley you’re looking at 100 people and that’s still not going to be enough to cover all your costs.”

Mark Bartley is expecting players to leave Evo Stik Southern League side Marlow after the playing budget was cut by 50%.

Speaking to the Maidenhead Advertiser he said: “I would expect there will be one or two players moving on this side of the weekend, or just after it. And, at the moment, I have to make sure that I’ve got enough players willing to go to Hayes & Yeading on Saturday.”

“I agreed to do the job for the season,” he said. “That’s how it works. I’ve got a good relationship with Terry (Staines) so there was no way I was just going to walk out and leave the club in the lurch.”

Bartley has been at Marlow for six years and led them back to the Southern League after a season in the Hellenic League.
