Bristol Rovers and former Maidenhead United defender Alfie Kilgour is at a crossroads in his career according to BristolLive.

The latest GasLive newsletter said of the former Magpies loanee following Rover’s stunning promotion back to League One last season: “The star of one of those stories was Alfie Kilgour, who surely reflects on Rovers’ promotion with slightly mixed feelings. That’s not to say that his delight as a boyhood Gashead was tarnished by a season of injury frustration, but he will certainly want to play a bigger part in a sequel.

“Knee surgery and a couple of subsequent setbacks restricted the homegrown defender to just 11 league appearances in 2021/22, and the coming days and weeks will are something of an audition for a 24-year-old eager to re-establish himself.”

Kilgour played 18 times for Maidenhead in the 2018/19 season and is highly regarded in Berkshire, and Bristol where he has played over 100 times for the Gas.

The defender now has 12 months to prove himself with his contract expiring next summer and get back into manager Joey Barton’s plans.
