Ascot United and Bracknell Town both entertain visitors on Tuesday night as the Berks & Bucks FA County Senior Trophy kicks-off.

There’s only ten teams in the competition which is played out by sides competing at step five of the National League System which means six teams have byes into the quarter-finals.

Those sides are Binfield, Burnham, Flackwell Heath, Holmer Green, Newport Pagnell Town and Windsor.

That leaves the Yellamen to battle Highmoor-IBIS and the Robins to host Thatcham Town in the fight for the final two places in the quarter-finals.

Five points and three places separate Ascot and IBIS in the league with the team from the Racecourse Ground in ninth place on eighteen points whilst Highmoor sit in twelfth place on thirteen points.

These sides met on the opening day of the season when Paul Coyne scored for the home side but Ibis ran out 2-1 winners as Jamie Piercy and Anthony White struck the target.

Manager Jeff Lamb was forced to play himself in Saturday’s 5-0 defeat away at Ardley United as player unavailability has hit him hard this past couple of weeks.

Bracknell and Thatcham were two of the sides heavily tipped to win the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division but it’s the Kingfishers who currently sit top of the pile on 26 points.

Mark Tallentire’s Robins side are in eleventh place but they have only played eight league matches, a joint division lowest total along with Highmoor.

Thatcham have suffered five defeats in all competitions this season from fifteen matches played but have already been beaten twice by Bracknell.

It was an Emirates FA Cup victory at the start of the season with Khalid Senussi, Kennie Chamberlain and Adam Cornell scoring as Shane Cooper-Clark and Jordan Seward’s replies were not enough for the Kingfishers.

Cooper-Clark scored again in the league match but Cornell and TJ Bohane each struck a brace as Tallentire’s side brushed Thatcham aside and manager Danny Robinson will surely be looking for revenge tomorrow night.
