It was a busy night of football again in the Uhlsport Hellenic League last night with no-less than 15 fixtures across the five senior divisions.

Wokingham & Emmbrook’s final home league game at Henley’s Triangle ground was a 2-0 defeat to Ardley United, but of more concern was the head injury to Jake Butler – who had just returned from injury. The round-up from the game is here.

Bracknell Town still have two home games to play in the league, but having guaranteed their safety at the weekend manager Mark Tallentire rested several key players including 20-goal forward Adam Cornell.

His replacement Ben Poynter didn’t disappoint, stepping up with the equaliser in 1-1 draw after Shane Cooper-Clark scored for visitors Thatcham Town. We have a round-up from the game here.

The other two Premier Division ties saw champions Kidlington win 3-0 at Flackwell Heath while Tuffley Rovers ensured they still have a narrow chance of avoiding the drop with a 2-1 win at home to Abingdon United.

Division 1 East

There was a thriller at Loop Meadow in the Bluefin Sports Supplementary Cup as Holyport fought back to 3-3 from 3-0 down, only to see Didcot Town Reserves hit a late winner. The Railwaymen will play Bracknell in the semi-final on Monday.

Locally, Woodley United were beaten 2-1 at home by Henley Town.

Division 2 East

Wokingham & Emmbrook Reserves suffered a big 10-0 defeat at the hands of Sandhurst Town Reserves. Undoubtedly the Sumas will have had a number of reserve team regulars stepping up to cover for injured players in the first team on the same evening – a casualty of the current end-of-season fixture congestion.
