This wasn’t quite the opening night at Bottom Meadow that Mark Tallentire would have wanted as Bracknell Town were beaten 2-0 by Highmoor-IBIS in the Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division.

The defeat is the Robins second of the league campaign after they were beaten on the opening day by Flackwell Heath but Tallentire’s side have managed two victories in between, one in the league and one in the cup.

Tallentire will have been pleased with the return of George Short, less so by the injury to Carl Withers who he replaced on 20 minutes but the change didn’t affect either side with forward Adam Cornell having two efforts, and the same falling to Highmoor attacker Anthony White.

It was the latter who will have had the bigger smile though, Cornell was expertly marshalled by Danny Lingwood while White gave the visitors the lead with goal 10 minutes before the break.

Cornell had the chance for an equaliser, reacting quickest to Senussi’s shot being cleared off the line but he couldn’t make it count and just minutes later Highmoor made it safe with White getting his second of the game.

Our man Darrell Freeland on the scene said: “Frankie Boamoah was outstanding for Highmoor tonight with White and Lingwood also in good form.”

Bracknell supporter Phil Wright said on twitter: “Bracknell were to easy to defend against tonight.”

Tallentire’s side will have to pick themselves up quickly with a tough FA Cup Preliminary Round tie at Evo-Stik Division 1 side and old rivals Egham Town on Saturday.
