Bracknell Town advanced in the Bluefin Sports Hellenic League Challenge with what on paper would appear a straightforward win at struggling Burnham on Saturday afternoon.

It was a busy day of cup action with Emirates FA Cup first qualifying round also taking place, but both Bracknell and Binfield FC featured in the league cup and both made it through.

Bracknell though made hard work of a defensively naive Burnham in spite of the 5-2 scoreline. TJ Bohane scored early after Seb Bowerman played him in and Bowermen got Bracknell’s second, wriggling through three defenders before firing home.

Joe Grant and then Kensley Maloney made it 4-0 Bracknell with little resistance, but a needless foul by Carl Davies on the edge of the box gave Burnham their best chance and Daniel Watkiss curled the ball around the wall an in to the right hand corner of the goal.

There was further drama minutes later when the home side game alive for the first time in the match, Dan Wilson beating Chris Grace but that was as far as any resurgence and Grant eased any Robins jitters with a superb header from substitute Khalid Senussi’s cross that was either a perfectly judged run or miles offside. You can decide for yourself in the video above!

Elsewhere Binfield made light work of Milton Keynes Academy. Liam Ferdinand twice and Sean Moore gave the Moles a 3-1 win in Buckinghamshire Hakeem Abdullah hit back for the home side.

Finchampstead and AFC Aldermaston were both beaten on the road. Matt Lambert scored for Finch but it wasn’t enough to stop a 2-1 cup defeat at Headington Amateurs while Alders were surprisingly beaten 2-1 by Division 2 East side Lynch Pin. Kai Parton-Edey getting the goal for the reds.

Wokingham & Emmbrook were in Division 1 East action and a Craig Haylett brace plus one from Jake Wheeler saw off Rayners Lane in West London.
