Make no bones about it, Bracknell Town needed a performance from the top drawer this evening to get anything from previously unbeaten Thame United, and boy oh boy did the Robins faithful get it.

Thame were just that in the first half and lucky to go in only 1-0 down at the break after the goalkeeper and the post denied Adam Cornell and Seb Bowerman.

Billed (by us admittedly) as the tale of four strikers, it was Bracknell who found the net.

It was Kensley Maloney though, star of the show who won the penalty at the end of the first half and Bowerman made no mistake.

Full of running and torment he was the outlet in the second half as Bracknell weathered a 45 minute storm.

Chris Grace saved a penalty for Bracknell, the visitors had one ruled out for offside and yet despite all that never looked like a team that should be brimming with confidence.

Maloney had the last laugh, a delicious looping forward pass from the left fell into the path of Cornell who was home free, and he doesn’t miss from there.

This was emphatic for Bracknell. Brilliant in the first half, dogged and determined in the second. Thatcham Town await on Saturday afternoon at Bottom Meadow.
