Luke Hayden the hero as Binfield end barren Hellenic League run

That huge sigh you heard across East Berkshire last night? That will have been Binfield manager Roger Herridge breathing a sigh of relief after his side earned a first Hellenic Premier League win since 12th September.

During that eight game run, the Moles picked up just two points – a run all the more frustrating given the number of opponents occupying the lower half of the table.

That said, it couldn’t have been scripted better with the visit to title chasing Flackwell Heath who needed a win to go second – and a youngster off the bench after 30 minutes to dent that challenge.

Luke Hayden replaced the injured Matt Jones on 31 minutes and proceeded to take the game to the Heathens in the second half scoring 50th, 55th and 80th minute goals – a first senior hat-trick in only his eighth Hellenic Premier League game.

After the game, Flackwell Heath manager Paul Shone tweeted: ‘When you don’t look after yourself you’ll get undone. Mistakes cost us that’s as simple as it gets. All game they wanted it more and got it.’

Binfield manager Roger Herridge simply posted an image of himself and Hayden.
