It was cup action galore with our sides taking part in three different cup competitions.

Bluefin Sports Hellenic Challenge Cup

Binfield welcomed near neighbours Sandhurst Town to Stubbs Lane and ran out 5-2 winners in a high scoring affair.

Liam Ferdinand did most of the damage scoring four times including an early opener before striker partner Jon Bennett fired in a powerful header. Ferdinand’s second before half time gave the Moles a big cushion.

Sandhurst fought back after the break to 3-1 before Ferdinand’s penalty to complete his hat-trick made it 4-1.

A second Fizzers goal gave them hope but Ferdinand had the final say to ease Roger Herridge’s side into the quarter finals.

Bracknell Town made the long journey to face AFC Longlevens and won a thrilling contest 5-3.

The hosts opened the scoring but had their goalkeeper dismissed for a foul on Adam Cornell.

After the break, TJ Bohane struck twice before Cornell made it 3-1 and we are not sure how the scoring went after this but we know that substitute Seb Bowerman scored the final two goals including a penalty as the Robins join the Moles in the last eight.

Elsewhere, Flackwell Heath with a last gasp winner, Highworth Town and Brackley Town Saints also won through whilst Lydney Town and Headington Amateurs had already advanced into the quarter finals.

Brimscombe & Thrupp will entertain Chalvey Sports for the final quarter final place.

Bluefin Sports Hellenic Supplementary Cup

There was agony for AFC Aldermaston and Woodley United today with away defeats for both Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East sides in heart-breaking circumstances.

United travelled to face Premier Division side Royal Wootton Bassett Town and opened the scoring after only four minutes with their first attack courtesy of a Charlie Oakley strike.

The next round beckoned until the fourth minute of stoppage time when Steve Robertson levelled from Dale Richards’ knock down.

Robertson struck his second and 25th goal of the season in stoppage time to consign Michael Herbert’s side to a 2-1 defeat.

Aldermaston made the journey to Division One West side Abingdon United. The sides met in October in the Berks & Bucks County Intermediate Cup with United winning 4-2 but it could not have been any closer today.

Dan Smith made a fine penalty save after fifteen minutes and soon afterwards, Kai Parton-Edey scrambled one home. The hosts equalised in first half stoppage time and there were no second half goals.

Into extra time it went with Abingdon moving ahead before Liam Tackley scored to ensure a penalty shootout with the Yellows beating The Atomics 5-4 on spot-kicks.

Reading Invitational challenge Cup

Also known as the Reading Senior Cup, Thames Valley Premier League leaders Marlow United hosted Finchampstead in what was expected to be a tight affair and it was Finch who won through with a 22nd minute penalty enough to settle this one.

Thames Valley Premier League

It was sixth against tenth with Berks County home to Highmoor Ibis Reserves and both sides had to settle for a point in an exciting 3-3 draw.

County thought they had earned all three points but a late equaliser ensured Ibis took a share of the spoils.
