A couple of matches fell by the wayside courtesy of the weather today but general it was a good day for those sides that we cover.

Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division

With ourselves in attendance, it was a five star performance from Binfield as they swept Longlevens AFC aside 5-0.

The Moles took an early lead when Jon Bennett’s ball was hit towards goal by Liam Ferdinand before being turned in by the defender. A bit of confusion followed with the referee consulting his assistant before the goal was awarded.

Jeff Brown climb high to head home a second and that’s how it stayed until the break although ‘Levens should have had a penalty after goalkeeper Mo Nyamunga got none of the ball and took out the visitors striker.

Like the first period, there was an early Binfield goal in the second half with Bennett firing in before it was far too easy for Ferdinand to get between two defenders and coolly shoot over the keeper.

Substitute Sean Moore was denied by the double save but he completed the scoring in the ninetieth minute with victory moving Binfield above Tuffley Rovers and into seventh place.

New Ascot United manager Neil Richards took charge of his first league game and saw his side come away from Royal Wootton Bassett Town with a valuable point after a goal-less draw.

Our photographer Mark Pugh was at the match and told us it was a good, positive fresh start for a new look Ascot side with the side looking hungry and prepared to throw themselves at the game for Richards.

Bracknell Town were without a match but got a timely boost with fellow title rivals Thame United only drawing 2-2 at home to Brimscombe & Thrupp who had led 2-0.

Finchampstead climbed up two places to fourth position with a hard fought 1-0 victory over Bicester Town.

Harry Swabey missed a first half penalty and rebound after being fouled by the goalkeeper with the sides deadlocked at the break.

Town were reduced to ten men second half before Jon Malone popped up with a 72nd minute winner.

It was the same score for Sandhurst Town as they saw off Didcot Town Reserves 1-0 at Bottom Meadow.

Sean Delfosse put the Fizzers ahead before goalkeeper Matt Watson made a fine penalty save and that’s how it remained to consolidate Sandhurst’s ninth place position.

Both Wokingham & Emmbrook and Woodley United saw their home matches postponed due to waterlogged pitches whilst AFC Aldermaston were without a fixture.

Thames Valley Premier League

There was disappointment for Berks County who returned from Wraysbury Village having lost 3-0.

A 1-0 half time lead was doubled immediately after the break before a 71st minute strike made the game safe for the home side.

Suburban Football League

In the Premier Division, Tring Athletic Reserve hosted Binfield Reserves and ended their two match winning run as they comfortably saw off the Moles 4-1.

Ascot United entertained second place Westfield Reserves in the Central Division and shared the points following a 1-1 draw.

It was cup action for Bracknell Town U21 as they hosted Horley Town Reserves in the Suburban Challenge League Cup Third Round and it was the Robins who advanced into the quarter finals winning 4-1 thanks to goals from Gavin Smith, Dan Roberts, George Short and Ollie Chell.

It’s a tough quarter final as Premier Division leaders Metropolitan Police Reserves lie in wait.
