Binfield and Woodley United were the big winners at the weekend as they both reached their respective Berks & Bucks County FA Cup Finals.

Binfield’s win was an impressive 6-3 romp at FA Vase Quarter Finalists Newport Pagnell Town with goals from Liam Ferdinand (2), James Knight, Luke Hayden, Sean Moore and Grant Kemp while Woodley United emerged victorious in a penalty shootout following a 0-0 draw at Risborough Rangers.

The Moles win means a dream Senior Trophy final against neighbours Bracknell Town with the venue and date to be confirmed, and Woodley will face Marlow United in the final of the Intermediate Cup.

In the Uhlsport Hellenic Premier League there was bump for Ascot United at home to Brimscombe & Thrupp who beat the Yellamen 5-1 despite a goal from Louis Bouwers.

Also in the division, Thatcham Town and Highworth Town both effectively exited the title race – leaving it between top of the table Flackwell Heath, second placed Bracknell and third placed Thame United.

In Division 1 East Wokingham & Emmbrook managed to play their first game of 2017, a 3-2 win at home to neighbours Finchampstead.

Matt Booth – the six goal hero in January scored for the Sumas along with Ben Broadhurst and Sam Lawrence while Richard Thomas responded for Finch.

No joy for Berks County in the Thames Valley Premier League, their match at Rotherfield was postponed but County Reserves set a new club record with a 15th win in a row – beating Woodley United ‘A’ 11-2.

There was a hat-trick each for Oliver Lawson and George Lloyd while Jack Kennedy and Connor Banks scored twice each and Sam Clark got the other.
