Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East

Woodley United got back to winning ways today after cup defeats in their previous two outings.

Despite sitting in fourth position, United have a great chance to finish in the top two even if it will be difficult to displace leaders Penn & Tylers Green.

Victory today came in the local derby at Sandhurst Town. After a scoreless first period, Matt Jones scored his first Woodley goal before the Fizzers equalised from a corner.

Carl Prestidge bagged the winner in a match which saw Sandhurst’s Tom Cooper sent off after an hour and Mo Black dismissed after the final whistle.

Finchampstead remain in third place after a 3-2 win at home to Rayners Lane. Freddie Barron, Harry Swabey and Matt Wright notched for Finch.

Wokingham & Emmbrook hosted Holyport and played out a 1-1 draw.

Matt Booth opened the scoring after being set up by Luke Scope and Booth rounded the ‘Port goalkeeper shy of half time which resulted in the keeper being sent off.

Despite being a man down, the visitors fought back and restored parity following a swift move which was finished well.

There was disappointment for AFC Aldermaston who returned from Didcot Town Reserves on the wrong end of a 4-2 defeat.
