A late Amy Woollard goal earned a valuable point in a 3-3 draw for Ascot United Ladies on Sunday afternoon and kept alive the Yellawomen’s hopes of lifting the Southern Region Women’s Football League Division 1 title.

Darrell Evans side were trailing 3-2 to Alton going in to the final 15 minutes of the tie at Ascot Racecourse when Woollard struck her second of the afternoon to level things up and Viv Moore could have won it for the division leaders but saw her strike hit the bar.

It was a disasterous start for Evans side with Alton opening the scoring after 2 minutes through Chelsie Stewart but Woollard equalised on 27 minutes and strike partner Lucy Holzman-Clarke put Ascot in the lead just before half time.

Megan Lebbern and Madeline Shuff swung the match back to Alton with quick-fire goals after the break to make it 3-2 but Woollard’s second equaliser of the afternoon ensures United remain four points clear at the top of the table.
